Revisiting the Origins of English Gin - Ginposium 2025
Anistatia Miller & Jared Brown Mixellany / Sipsmith
Jared and Anistatia make their in-person debuts at Ginposium, following a pre-recorded session during the Covid pandemic, this time to celebrate their book A Most Noble Water: Revisiting the Origins of English Gin.
It presents an entirely new history of gin. Researched and written by this award-winning pair of drinks historians, it shatters the whole notion of a Dutch origin and revisits English gin’s German antecedents and definitively English origins.
This is the first book to present in detail the recipes that led up to the development of modern-day gin and includes them verbatim. And it is heavily footnoted, so every reader can argue with the authors (or not!).
We will also sample a home-baked batch of the 18th-century gingernuts that were commonly sold along with gingerbread as the perfect pairing with London gins at the time.
