The Gin Guild Lifetime Achievement Award
The Gin Guild Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour bestowed by the Guild.
It recognises individuals whose careers have made an exceptional and enduring contribution to gin distillation, whose influence extends beyond their own brands or businesses, and whose dedication has helped shape the global reputation of gin.
Awarded sparingly, the accolade celebrates not simply longevity, but impact – honouring those whose expertise, leadership and advocacy have strengthened the craft of gin and inspired others within the industry. Recipients are individuals who embody excellence in distillation and whose work has left a lasting legacy on the category.
Since its introduction, the award has been presented to a small and distinguished group of industry figures, each representing a different chapter in the modern renaissance of gin. Their collective contribution spans heritage, innovation, mentorship and global advocacy.
Below you will find information on each of the recipients and the story of their remarkable achievements.

The Gin Guild Lifetime Achievement Award itself is a crafted object of meaning and symbolism. The Guild’s silversmiths were responsible for its design and creation, beginning with nothing more than a pencil sketch.
The basic shape was first turned from a piece of wood, with the inscription drawn and carefully cut into its surface.
In a subtle nod to gin’s essential botanical, 25 grams of juniper berries were added to the ‘recipe’ – a hidden reference incorporated into the underside of the award.
A juniper sprig was modelled in wax onto the wooden form, after which a mould was taken and a full wax version produced. Using the traditional lost wax process, the wax pattern was invested in plaster, burnt out, and replaced with molten bronze. The result was the award cast in solid bronze.
The bronze is then meticulously finished by hand. Sprues – the feeder channels used in casting – were removed, and the inscription and decorative elements were chased using fine steel chisels.
Finally, the piece was patinated with carefully controlled chemicals to achieve a tone reminiscent of juniper berries, before being polished and waxed to its final form.
The result is an award that reflects not only craftsmanship, but the very spirit of gin itself – tradition, precision and respect for detail.
