Founded in 2012 on the banks of the Eden Estuary, Eden Mill St Andrews is an independent Scottish distiller producing a portfolio of premium coastal gins and luxury Scotch whiskies.
Established with a vision of reviving distilling in St Andrews, the company has become recognised for combining traditional craftsmanship with innovation, creating spirits inspired by the landscapes, history and character of Scotland’s east coast.
Located on the University of St Andrews Eden Campus – a centre for sustainable business and environmental research – Eden Mill’s purpose-built distillery reflects the company’s long-term commitment to quality, sustainability and visitor experiences.
Alongside its production facilities, the distillery includes a visitor centre where guests can discover the distilling process, enjoy guided tastings and learn more about the brand’s distinctive approach to gin and whisky production.
The company’s range includes several award-winning spirits, with many expressions drawing inspiration from the local coastline, the historic town of St Andrews and Scotland’s rich sporting and natural heritage.
The distillery occupies the site of a former paper mill at Guardbridge, close to the mouth of the River Eden, bringing distilling back to an area where it had been absent for more than 150 years.
Designed as a modern destination for both production and tourism, the facility offers immersive gin and single malt whisky experiences, tasting rooms, a retail shop and a rooftop cocktail bar overlooking the Eden Estuary and the skyline of St Andrews.
Sustainability is central to the distillery’s design and operation, with production powered by renewable electricity, including energy generated by the University of St Andrews’ nearby solar farm.
Eden Mill has also partnered with Scottish biotechnology company MiAlgae to repurpose distillery by-products in the production of sustainable Omega-3 oils, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility and collaboration with the local community.
