Rare Hendrick’s bottle to be auctioned in support of The Drinks Trust

Gin enthusiasts have the opportunity to own one of the rarest bottles ever produced by Hendrick’s Gin while supporting a worthy cause, as a unique Hendrick’s Ecosse limited edition goes under the hammer in aid of The Drinks Trust.

Created by Lesley Gracie, Master Distiller at Hendrick’s Gin and former Grand Rectifier of The Gin Guild, the expression has been specially distilled using botanicals foraged along the route of the SIXTREME Challenge, undertaken to raise funds for hospitality workers facing hardship.

Beginning on Monday July 27 at the Hendrick’s Gin Palace in Girvan, Ayrshire, the challenge will conclude in North Berwick at Fringe by the Sea on Saturday August 1.

Alongside Hendrick’s signature rose and cucumber, the recipe incorporates pine needles, birchwood, Douglas fir, spruce and brambles, resulting in what Lesley describes as “unmistakably Hendrick’s with added fresh herbal and green character rounded off with the sweet fruity elements of the brambles.”

Just 14 bottles of Hendrick’s Ecosse have been produced – one for each decade of The Drinks Trust’s history – making this an exceptionally rare collector’s item.

Supporting an extraordinary challenge

The auction forms part of the SIXTREME Challenge – six ultra-marathons in six consecutive days across Scotland.

The challenge is being undertaken by Neil Barker, Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Drinks Trust and Managing Director UK at William Grant & Sons, to raise vital funds for people working in Scotland’s drinks and hospitality industries who are experiencing financial hardship.

Every mile run represents someone in crisis who deserves stability, dignity and support.

For more than 140 years, The Drinks Trust has stood beside the people who distil, brew, bottle, serve and sell the drinks we all enjoy. The SIXTREME Challenge is an opportunity for the industry to stand behind them in return.
