The Boatyard Distillery is a distinctive craft spirits producer rooted firmly in place, provenance and a deep connection to County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland.
Founded by spirits industry veteran Joe McGirr, formerly COO of the London Distillery Company, Boatyard was born from a desire to return home and create a distillery that genuinely reflects its landscape and community.
Housed in a converted boatyard on the banks of Lough Erne, it is the first legal distillery in Fermanagh in over 130 years, giving the brand both its name and a strong sense of identity.
At the heart of Boatyard’s approach is a farm-to-bottle philosophy, with a clear focus on organic ingredients, local sourcing and transparency. Its signature botanical, sweet gale, is foraged from the McGirr family bog, while other botanicals and base materials are carefully selected to reflect the character of the surrounding environment and the distillery’s commitment to quality.
The distillery’s core range includes Boatyard Double Gin, a juniper-forward expression produced using a distinctive double-contact method to build depth and structure. This is complemented by Boatyard Old Tom Gin, matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and subtly sweetened with natural honey, and Sloe Boat Gin, made using wild-harvested sloes to capture a sense of seasonality.
Alongside its spirits, Boatyard is recognised for its strong environmental ethos and became the first distillery on the island of Ireland to achieve B Corp certification. Each bottle reflects a balance of tradition, innovation and a profound sense of place.

Production centres around a small copper pot still, affectionately named Érainn, alongside a column still known as Doc Brown.
