Tanqueray expands into the aperitivo occasion

Diageo has expanded the Tanqueray portfolio with the launch of Tanqueray Aperitivo, a new 14.7% ABV premium aperitif designed to bring the brand into the growing European aperitivo occasion.

Available in selected European markets from Summer 2026, Tanqueray Aperitivo is built around a distinctive pink grapefruit flavour, complemented by botanicals including Mediterranean gentian and rosemary. The result is a bittersweet profile with a bright finish.

At the heart of the launch is a simple 1:1:1 serve: 50ml Tanqueray Aperitivo, 50ml Prosecco and 50ml soda, served over ice and finished with a wedge of fresh pink grapefruit. Diageo describes the serve as an accessible and visually striking interpretation of the modern Spritz.

The launch reflects the continued growth of the aperitivo occasion across Europe, with consumers increasingly seeking premium drinks that combine quality and simplicity while offering flavours beyond the familiar. According to Diageo, research in Germany indicates that one in eight cocktails ordered is now a liqueur-based Spritz.

Tanqueray Aperitivo represents a move beyond the brand’s traditional gin occasions, while retaining its focus on botanical flavour. The new expression is initially available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with recommended retail prices of €15.99 in Germany, €17.99 in Austria and CHF 19.95 in Switzerland.

A 150ml serve contains 10.7g of alcohol.

For Tanqueray, the launch adds another dimension to one of the world’s best-known gin brands, bringing its botanical credentials into a rapidly evolving drinking occasion.
