Trinity River Distillery is a veteran-owned and operated craft distillery based in Fort Worth, Texas. The company was founded by Texas entrepreneurs Don and Ben Alexander, who saw an opportunity to transform a historic Fort Worth industrial site into a distillery.
Production began in 2016 in the former Ranch Style Beans factory, a building dating from 1913 that had produced the iconic Texan food brand for 95 years before closing in 2008. The distillery has retained much of the building’s original industrial character, creating a distinctive setting for its modern distilling operation.
The company produces a portfolio of spirits under its Silver Star Spirits brand, including whiskey, vodka and liqueurs, alongside its gin. Trinity River Distillery’s approach is strongly rooted in its Texas identity. North Texas-grown rye, corn and barley are used in its spirits, while locally sourced honey and coffee feature in some speciality products. One of its distinctive practices is the collection of rainwater from the distillery roof, stored in large tanks and purified before being used in production.
The distillery’s flagship gin is **Devil’s Grin Texas Gin**, developed by Master Distiller Brett Luchesi. It is positioned as a contemporary American gin that retains the foundations of classic gin while offering a distinctly Texan character. Its 14 botanicals include juniper alongside South Texas mesquite, white sage, citrus, galangal, cardamom, rose hips, anise, angelica, orris root and lemon verbena.
Devil’s Grin has established an impressive awards record, including Double Gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and further recognition in 2025 and 2026.
Trinity River Distillery combines Fort Worth heritage, local sourcing and modern craft distilling to create spirits that are unmistakably rooted in Texas, with Devil’s Grin representing the company’s distinctive contribution to contemporary American gin.
