Scottish brewer and hospitality group BrewDog has confirmed it is winding down its spirits business and closing its distillery in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, bringing to an end a decade-long involvement in distilled spirits.

Best known internationally for its craft beer portfolio and bar network, BrewDog will cease production of its spirits brands over the coming months. These include LoneWolf Gin and other products developed under BrewDog Distilling Co.

The Ellon distillery, which opened in 2015, will be closed as the business refocuses on beer and its ready-to-drink Wonderland cocktail range.

The company described the move as a difficult decision taken after careful consideration, aimed at sharpening its focus on core priorities and faster-growing areas of the portfolio. While standalone spirits production is being phased out, the Wonderland cocktail range will continue, with production handled by third-party partners.
