UK Packaging PRO

UK Packaging PRO is the not-for-profit, industry-led Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) appointed by PackUK to support the delivery of the UK’s packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) scheme. Working on behalf of producers across the packaging value chain, the organisation plays a central role in helping the sector transition towards a more circular economy.

Representing the collective interests of producers, UK Packaging PRO works collaboratively with governments across the UK’s four nations, producers, local authorities and industry stakeholders to deliver an effective, efficient and evidence-led pEPR system. Its responsibilities include supporting the implementation of recycling obligations, encouraging innovation in packaging design and helping to maximise resource efficiency while reducing environmental impact.

As the UK packaging landscape evolves, UK Packaging PRO provides leadership and coordination across the sector, helping businesses understand and meet their producer responsibility obligations while promoting best practice and collaboration throughout the packaging supply chain.

For Gin Guild members, the work of UK Packaging PRO is of particular importance as the implementation of pEPR will have significant implications for packaging design, reporting requirements and environmental stewardship across the spirits industry. By working closely with producers and government, the organisation aims to support a practical and sustainable transition to a more circular packaging economy for the benefit of businesses, consumers and the environment.
