The name Roku means “six” in Japanese, and the gin is made with six traditional Japanese botanicals. The botanicals are harvested at the peak of their season, or “shun”.
Well before Shinjiro Torii founded Suntory, he dreamed of creating a whisky that would not only appeal to the delicate Japanese palate, but also be embraced by the rest of the world.
Bringing his dream to life, Shinjiro established Suntory in 1899 to brew and distill a variety of liquors, including gin. Today, Roku Gin embodies Shinjiro’s singular vision.
The Japanese culinary concept of shun (pronounced shoon) refers to the tradition of enjoying every food and drink in its proper season, and only when the ingredients are at the peak of their flavours.
Each ingredient in Roku Gin is captured in its ideal moment, harvested from the best growing areas in Japan at the peak of their season.
The ingredients are specifically prepared and each treated differently – a testament to the House of Suntory’s commitment to monozukuri craftsmanship.
Once combined they blend harmoniously, offering a pleasurable moment with every sip.
