About John
John has worked at Waitrose for 15 years and has been their spirits buyer for the last 9 years, growing the gin category to be the biggest single section within the Waitrose spirits portfolio, delivering retail sales of £48.5m in 2022.
He continues to champion small suppliers within the category, most recently Isle of Barra gin who launched in March 2023.
John has been a supporter for the gin industry and has led the way in the retail space, backing craft as well as the established brands and always at the forefront of innovation. He joined the Gin Guild in October 2023.
