About Nick
Nick Malaczynski is a Gin Guild member and co-founder of Shivering Mountain Distillery, combining his passion for gin with extensive experience in global finance.
An economist by training, Nick has held senior roles at Montagu Investment Management and as a director at Aetna UK, where he helped create one of the first UCITS funds in 1986. He later worked with Stenham on the hedge fund side before launching his own investment research and advisory business in 1994, providing strategic guidance to corporates worldwide.
Nick has advised central banks and private institutions across the globe, including the South African Reserve Bank, the Omani Central Bank, and a range of international corporates, navigating markets in Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Most recently, he launched the Early Start Distillery Fund in the UK, focused on investing in craft distilleries under EIS regulations, supporting the growth of emerging gin brands.
With a unique combination of financial expertise and industry knowledge, Nick helps distilleries understand funding opportunities, navigate investment challenges, and scale successfully in the competitive spirits market.
