Many of us enjoy our favourite bottle of gin on special occasions. Whether it’s a classic Gin & Tonic to toast an anniversary or a Hot Negroni to add to the Christmas cheer, gin elevates celebrations and creates lasting memories. But did you know there’s a day dedicated to gin itself?
World Gin Day is an annual celebration of the juniper-flavoured spirit, bringing enthusiasts from across the globe together to revel in its aromatic pleasures, rich history, and vibrant culture.
When is World Gin Day?
World Gin Day falls on the second Saturday of June each year:
2026 Saturday 13th June
2027 Saturday 12th June
It’s a day to enjoy gin in every form – from classic G&Ts to creative cocktails – and to connect with other enthusiasts, whether at home, in your local gin bar, or at special events worldwide.
The History of World Gin Day
The first World Gin Day was created by Neil Houston in 2009 in Birmingham. In 2010, he joined forces with Gin Guild member Emma Stokes (GinMonkey) to celebrate the day at a small London gin bar.
Since 2013, Emma has led World Gin Day, growing it into a global celebration uniting over 200 million gin lovers on social media alone. Today, it’s a jubilant tribute to gin, its producers, and mixologists.
Why Celebrate World Gin Day?
