Peddlers Gin Celebrates the Year of the Horse with Tanghulu Street Candy Gin

Peddlers Gin is marking the Year of the Horse with a festive Chinese New Year release: Tanghulu Street Candy Gin (糖葫芦金酒).

Inspired by the iconic northern Chinese winter treat tanghulu – sugar-coated hawthorn sold from street carts – this limited-edition gin blends nostalgia with modern distillation.

Peddlers Gin is showcasing its full range across London at Hutong, Dim Sum Library, and Opium until mid-March, featuring special cocktails crafted by multi-award-winning bartender Millie Tang.

The limited edition gin will launch in London this March, following its availability across China. Pop-ups at Hutong at the Shard and Shanghai Me at Hilton Park Lane will offer unique seasonal serves.

The Gin is crafted from a bespoke London Dry base infused with hawthorn, Guangdong liquorice, strawberry, juniper, coriander seed, Nanjing angelica, and Buddha’s Hand citrus.

The result is a bright, lightly sweet, and tart gin with fresh strawberry and citrus notes on the nose, a hawthorn-led palate, and a clean juniper finish – a playful, Chinese twist on sloe gin.

The festive label draws inspiration from traditional Chinese firecracker posters. Versatile in serving, it is equally delightful neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails.

A recommended seasonal serve is the Tanghulu Mule, combining Tanghulu Street Candy Gin, ginger sugar syrup, lime juice, and ginger beer, garnished with tanghulu, mint, and lime.

This release continues Peddlers Gin’s tradition of celebrating the lunar calendar, following last year’s Snake Oil Gin for the Year of the Snake.
