14th May Distillers city annual spirits debate 2015

Gin Guild members were invited to the Worshipful Company of Distillers annual Spirits Debate. This was held on 14th May at the offices of J P Morgan on the Embankment London.

The topic this year was:

“Innovation is the life-blood of the spirit category; is whisk(e)y innovative enough? How for example does it compare with other categories across the drinks spectrum?”

7 May WDC Scottish Dinner

The Worshipful Company of Distillers held one of their occasional Scottish dinners for distillers and others. The dinner was held in the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh. The Guild were invited to put on and source Scottish gins for a gin bar on arrival.

Such was the variety on offer and the quality of the gin serve and presentation, that, despite a predominance of tartan (and a clear need for many for strong drink, given that this was UK election day), the majority of guests spurned whisky and enjoyed one of the dozen gins available.

Our thanks to the staff for taking on the challenge of a ‘proper serve’ so well.

Holyrood Palace, Gin and The Prince’s Trust

The charity clearly enjoyed the gins offered by the Guild at a VIP event in Whitehall in December and asked the Guild if it could arrange for some Scottish distillers to support a VIP event in July at Holyrood Palace. Caorunn and Rock Rose gins supported the event.
