Sanchez Romate Hnos. S.A.

Sanchez Romate, distributors of Fifty Pound Gin, was established in Jerez de la Frontera in 1781, at the time of the French Revolution, by a prominent and enterprising citizen of Jerez, Don Juan Sanchez de la Torre, remembered today for his philanthropic activities.

The firm owns several vineyards, 100 Ha. in total, and a modern vinification plant in the heart of the sherry growing region as well as an array of bodegas in the centre of Jerez. It boasts large stocks of brandy and sherry, and combines the old traditional ways with the most up-to-date technology.

Sanchez Romate have distinguished themselves throughout the centuries for the unsurpassed quality of their products, as evidenced by the fact that they were appointed, at the turn of the century, purveyors to the Royal Family of Spain, to the Vatican and to the House of Lords, a rare privilege reserved only to companies of proven integrity.

Today Sanchez Romate is still a family-owned company that spans many generations of brandy and wine making expertise. Its financial strength is mainly due to their very successful de-luxe brandy “Cardenal Mendoza”, solera gran reserva and, to a lesser extent, to their premium sherries.
