The Cotswolds Distillery was founded in 2014 by Dan Szor. A native New Yorker, Dan had been working in finance in London and was looking for a new direction that would let him move permanently to the countryside and do something he was passionate about.
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds countryside, the Cotswolds Distillery was born from a dream to produce delicious spirits in one of the most beautiful regions in the world.
Having found a derelict site near his house, he set about building a distillery and a team to run it, and the doors of the Cotswolds Distillery opened in July 2014.
Production began in September 2014, just a few months after the distillery was commissioned. Since then they have produced a number of different spirits and liqueurs, from absinthe to a rye whisky, whilst also steadily increasing production of our Cotswolds Dry Gin.
They started by distilling 150 individual botanical spirits in a whole range of different flavours and set about experimenting with different combinations. Their distillers created over 60 individual gin recipes which were whittled down to one finalist, and that became the Cotswolds Dry Gin. It may have started as something of a side-project, but it’s now at the heart of what they do and they’re very proud of what they’ve created.
