Greenall’s Distillery

Operated by: Quintessential Brands G&J Distillers

G&J Distillers’ distillery is in Warrington and each batch of Greenall’s The Original London Dry Gin is expertly hand crafted. Their beautiful copper stills sit in the newly renovated Greenall’s Distillery, completed in early 2017.

Tradition is paired with innovation; the finest naturally dried botanicals are still added by hand and G&J’s Master Distiller Joanne Moore continually checks each batch of gin to ensure consistency of taste. A modern bottling production line on site means that the very best Greenall’s gin is crafted and preserved from distillation through to first pour.

Greenall’s Distillery Brands:

BLOOM London Dry Gin

BLOOM premium London Dry Gin is a delicate, floral gin created by Master Distiller, Joanne Moore.  It was inspired by nature and the flowers of an English country garden. This gin is distilled in a traditional copper pot still with a secret combination of seven botanicals added by hand including chamomile, honeysuckle and the citrus fruit pomelo.  These are allowed to rest and macerate to rehydrate the botanicals. BLOOM Gin is distilled by only the 7th Master Distiller in the 250 years in which G&J Distillers has been producing fine gin.

Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin

Greenall’s Gin is a classic London Dry gin with rich juniper notes, balanced with mature citrus and spice. The gin is distilled in a traditional copper pot still with eight botanicals added by hand which include juniper, coriander and angelica. Greenall’s Gin, the Great British Spirit, was first distilled in 1761 and is made using English grain spirit. It has been continuously produced by G&J Distillers to the same recipe for over 250 years.

Greenall’s Sloe Gin

Greenall’s, the world’s original London Dry Gin made to the same recipe for 256 years, has launched a new look and recipe for its latest hand-crafted Greenall’s Sloe Gin expression. G&J Distiller's Master Distiller, Joanne Moore, has selected the traditional flavour of sloe berries using Greenall’s eight botanicals, with their rich juniper notes and mature citrus and spice, combining with the sloes to create a warming drink, perfect for autumn and winter drinking and bottled at 26% abv. The result is a rich ruby red colour, with a classic sloe gin aroma of almond and cherry, underpinned by juniper, citrus and warm earthy spice notes.

Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin

Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is a richly spiced gin which epitomises the exotic intensity of the Orient. It is distilled with a selection of hand-picked botanicals from the Ancient Spice Route. This Oriental Spiced Gin is distilled in a traditional copper pot still in which the key botanicals of spicy cubeb berries from Indonesia, black pepper from India and coriander from Morocco are infused. Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is distilled by only the 7th Master Distiller in the 250 years in which G&J Distillers has been producing fine gin.

Berkeley Square London Dry Gin

Berkeley Square London Dry Gin is an ultra premium gin distilled in small batches using the small copper still No. 8. As a gin it has been distilled to be smooth enough to be sip neat. The gin is distilled using the unusual method of ‘bouquet garni’ where hand-picked botanicals, including sage, lavender, kaffir lime leaves and basil, are wrapped in muslin and submerged in triple distilled spirit to help infuse the herbaceous aromas. Berkeley Square London Dry Gin is produced in one of the oldest distilleries in the UK, G&J Distillers, in Cheshire.

Joanne Moore, G&J Distillers

From the changing industry to winter tipples, we talk all things gin with Joanne Moore, Master Distiller at G&J Distillers. THE GIN GUILD: How long have you been distilling? JOANNE MOORE: Since 1996! I’ve just celebrated my 20th year at G&J Distillers and my 10th anniversary as their seventh Master Distiller. THE GIN GUILD: How has the industry changed over this time? JOANNE MOORE: The industry has grown from a handful of recognisable brands to now a plethora of choice for the consumer. For me it’s always been a fun and interesting industry to work in, but it’s only in the last few years that general consumers are recognising this…
